This week at Scots OOSH the children participated in various craft experiences that explored different textures, both man made an natural based.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

on Tuesday afternoon, the children were delighted to participate in making play dough from scratch, the materials used in this experience was: plain flour, water, oil, salt and cream of tartar. Firstly Educator Natalia guided the children on what was required in order to add the ingredients and how much specifically was needed, she then went around and evenly distributed the raw materials to each of the children participating, was lovely to see the children waiting patiently. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The children enjoyed getting their hands into the dry and wet mixtures and combining them all together till it formed a doughy texture, they were also given a choice in which color paint they wanted to to add to their handful of dough, was good that they all choose different colours, they were then asked to continue to manipulate with the dough till it was fully combined and remained a good texture, they understood if the dough was too soft then they needed to add a bit more flour, and if it was too hard then they must add a bit of water or oil to allow the dough to combine properly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was a messy experience, but the children were having so much fun, they were not too concern with the mess that was created around them. They were stored in the fridge afterwards for future use<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next day the children got to enjoy playing with the dough using various cutters, the dough were still a perfect texture, they used the cutters to create different creatures, buildings, plants and other wonderful things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
