Nature Walk

Over the course of the week, the children have been learning about sustainability, The children have part taken in a nature walk. The educators facilitated the nature walk with a discussion with the children before taking them out, we asked the children questions as to what they might find in our natural environment, and also what new things they may discover.

During the nature walk, the children ventured in their own path, making their own discoveries, one of the children came to the educators saying that he had found a birds nest, and we asked him questions on what type of materials the birds use to create the nest, his response was grass, sticks and wool.

Some of the other children gathered a branch to which they were able to crumble with their hands and buried it in the sand, they used water and dirt to manipulate with the materials. All of the children got involved to collect them and place them into the dirt.

To extend on this lovely outdoor experience, we will be looking into providing information and learning about different natural environments both man-made and natural, and looking at ways to conserve those environments.
