Merry Christmas & Happy New year from us at OOSH

Good afternoon Rod,

We would like to share with you a summary of our Term 4 at The Scots College dolls point.

We started off term 4 with a science theme where the children conducted numerous science experiments. They had the chance to hypothesise different scenarios  for each experiment outcomes and together we conducted each experiment to see what the outcome would be. We participated in experiments such as, the balloon helium experiment using a plastic bottle vinegar and baking soda. During this experiment we placed a balloon around the nozzle of the plastic bottle and created a tight seal by sticking taping it together, we then watched carefully as the balloon started to build up with pressure and started in self-inflate. Another great experiment the children really enjoyed was our lava lamps, using disposable plastic bottles the children added water, oil, food colouring and an aspirin. The children were amazed by how the aspirin tablet created a bubbly reaction with the oil and water and soon there was floating bubbles in their bottles.

We then moved on to acknowledging NAIDOC week and Remembrance Day. The children created various art work that symbolises and depicts the importance of these special calendar events, we discussed the significance in acknowledging our Indigenous culture and WWI. We also reflected on Diwali week and Halloween, the children showed particular interest in the various Halloween craft they were involved with.

December came around very quick, but we were fortunate enough to arranged for the children to have an excursion to the park across from the school. They absolutely loved it and we are glad that it was a positive experience for both the children and Educators. We finished the term with the children engaging in lots of Christmas themed craft experiences and a lovely Christmas party, was great to see all of the children be in attendance. They had lots of fun playing various group games and dancing to Christmas themed music, overall a positive and wonderful way to finish term 4.

Overall we had a great finish to the year and we cannot wait to see the exciting things we can get up to in Term 1 2021.

On behalf of Amy, Lucas and myself Natalia i would like to say that we hope everyone has a wonderful Merry Christmas and a Happy New year 2021.
