Diwali

Diwali is the five-day Festival of Lights, celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world, Diwali, which for some also coincides with harvest and new year celebrations, is a festival of new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil, and light over darkness.

Diwali takes place annually and lasts for five days, marking the start of the Hindu New Year. The exact dates change each year and are determined by the position of the moon – but it usually falls between October and November.

This week at OOSH, The children have been part taking in Diwali by creating lovely Happy Diwali cards and cutting and pasting Diwali stencils that represent the Festival of Lights. We have also had discussions with the children so they are aware what is Diwali and why it is important. The children have been quite enthusiastic about coloring their lovely cards and stencils.
