Self Portraits

This afternoon, a small group of boys completed a self portrait activity. This planned experience was a follow up from our all about me experience from last week. Educators wanted to focus on the children’s self identities from their perspective, in a fun way.

In this activity, the children used different coloured paper to create their portraits in all different kinds of ways. During the experience, Ryan and James said, “Wow look at how Adam is making his hair! That’s so cool.” All of the boys shared different techniques together.

Once they had finished their portrait, Educators asked them to add 1 thing about themselves, Ryan’s said “I love Mario” James’ said “I like soccer” and Oliver wrote “I like the sun and it helps things grow”

These wonderful artworks have been added to the boys’ OOSH art folders. Next time, we thought we could create some family portraits to add in!

Learning Outcome: 1.3 Children develop knowledgeable and confident self-identities.
