Construction play

At OOSH, the most popular resource/experience is construction, to be more specific LEGO. The boys have made some wonderful creations from LEGO. But we wanted to see some other wonderful creations from the boys, therefore educators have extended on this interest in construction this afternoon.

Instead of having a whole table of LEGO to begin with, the boys used their construction building skills differently. Ryan, Oliver, James and Ryder put their skills to the test with our life size, giant construction set.

Together they made a house, with different rooms and even a door! During this activity, the boys became frustrated at times because they could not get it to stay up-right. When this happened, Oliver said “No No, come on. We are doing fantastic.” All of them agreed and continued to work together.

Educators helped the boys finish off their house and were very happy to see the way they handled these small, yet frustrating challenges.

Learning Outcome: 4.2 Children develop a range of skills and processes such as problem solving, enquiry, experimentation, hypothesising, researching and investigating.
