This week, we have had a lot of fun exploring different crystals, both man made and natural elements. A spontaneous experience from a crystal book has sparked interest about different crystals with the children, so this week we decided to have a further look into the topic.

The children had the opportunity to to grow their own crystals using small rocks, a crystalised solution and water, we are anticipating their growth. They also were given a big slab of clay and inside the clay were hidden gems and crystals of different color, their aim was to slowly and safely chip away the clay to locate the hidden crystals, and lastly they had the opportunity to paint different rocks with glow in the dark paint.

As this interest has expanded we also had chats with the children on where they think they could locate different crystals and were they may come from, we have discovered that crystals are located deep within the earths surfaces and also in the sea, as pearls are located in sea shells.
