On Wednesday afternoon, the children participated in a salt jar project. The children picked out their own colour combinations, mixed the colours with salt and made unique layers in the jar. They loved the process of making their mini rainbow jars, pouring layers at angels and making interesting strata. The children took a moment to appreciate the wonderful colour schemes they created!
The activity promoted fine motor skills, persistence, curiosity and creativity. As the children made layers of salt in the jar, they were able to recognise and describe the patterns, in terms of colour, size and shape. They made their own original patterns, describing their features and experimenting different designs.
