Anzac Day 2021.

This week we have started week 1 term 2 with the focus of Anzac Day, which falls this Sunday 25th April. To honor and respect this important day we have engaged with the children by discussing what they feel represents Anzac day and why we need to acknowledge it. There responses were quite spot on, with one child telling the group telling everyone that he has visited the war memorial in Canberra.

It commemorates the sacrifice of Australian and New Zealand military personnel who have died during war. Anzac Day originally commemorated the Australian and New Zealand forces that landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey on 25 April 1915 during the First World War.

We have also asked the children to do some Anzac day craft we decided to make a reef using all of the children’s hands which we cut up and placed around a paper plate, we then did a sign saying “Lest we forget”.

Was great to see all of the children get involved, we will be continuing this next week and also allowing children to have Anzac biscuits.

getting the children’s hand-prints.
