Lego Play.

The children at Scots College love to engage in activities where they can build and construct, One of their favourite experiences is Lego, they all get excited when Lego becomes and option to play with in the afternoon.

This was also inspired by one of the children who had constructed an animal figure, he had built the figure with an inside elastic allowing the animals head to move forward and back and when it did this, the animals mouth would also open and close, i found this to be extremely impressive.

To extend on this the children would get together to construct an entire mystical world, what they describe as a parallel universe, constructing building, green fields, flowers, lava and the sea, adding creatures as well, It is great to see the children take their imaginations to the next level, as they work together to create their Lego.

There are many benefits for children who engage with activities like Lego, They engage in teamwork and build upon their social skills, Problem solving, Mathematics and Spatial awareness, creativity and experimentation and self confidence.
