On Sunday, the 1st of March, millions of people recognised and participated in the national event, Clean up Australia Day. This day was created in 1989, by an Australian man in Sydney. His simple idea is now the nation’s largest community-based environmental event.
This week, the boys rolled up their sleeves and contributed to their school community for Clean up Australia Day.
As a group, we spoke about the importance of this event, why we have this event and how we can contribute on the day, but also in our day to day lives.
The boys really got involved and created a game out of cleaning up their school! It became a bit of a competition for some! Something we will definitely follow up and continue throughout the year!
Learning Outcome: 2.1 Children develop a sense of belonging to groups and communities and an understanding of the reciprocal rights and responsibilities necessary for active community participation.
